🔶The prisoner’s monthly insurance supposedly promises protection from unlawful actions by the administration, beatings by cellmates, and problems with medical support during transfers.

🔶The contract is allegedly signed on behalf of the convict, they are issued a “policy,” and copies are sent to the head of the institution.

🔶In the advertising, this is presented as “the only effective way to help a prisoner” and as a guarantee of an independent expert review and lawsuits against the colony’s governor. Subscription prices range from 5,000 to tens of thousands of rubles per month.

🔶One of the first in this market was the “Orthodox Center for Spiritual Assistance and Legal Protection,” which is linked to the Russian Orthodox Church and brings in priests for oversight.
