Russians have begun to be detained for photographs of Russian soldiers’ graves. There are criminal cases under the treason article

In several regions of Russia, security forces carried out demonstrative detentions of Russians who were photographing soldiers’ graves, Mediazona reported. Such cases have become more frequent — people are forced to apologize on camera, and several have been charged under the article on treason.

As journalist Dmitry Treshchanin said, people are offered money in Mediazona’s name to go to a cemetery and photograph the graves of those killed in the war. Fraudsters are interested in non-public data. They had previously tried several times to buy databases from the outlet.

At the end of last week, it became known about a criminal case under the article on treason against a resident of Yaroslavl for the “systematic photographing of graves” and “sending materials to Ukraine’s special services.” In June, several residents of Tomsk Oblast were detained in a similar case.
