He was informed of this by Strategic Missile Forces commander Sergei Karakayev, TASS reports.
“Today at 11:15, the Strategic Missile Forces carried out the launch of the newest heavy liquid-fueled intercontinental ballistic missile, Sarmat. The launch was successful, the launch mission was accomplished,” he said.
Vladimir Putin noted that by the end of 2026, Sarmat will be placed on combat duty.
He added that work on the Poseidon and Burevestnik systems is in its final stage and recalled that Russia can equip the Oreshnik system with nuclear warheads.
