In Sverdlovsk Region, parking garages and basements will be converted into shelters from UAVs
The decree amending the regulations on organizing and conducting civil defense in Sverdlovsk Region was signed by the region’s governor, Denis Pasler, Kommersant reports.
According to the document, basements, underground utility spaces, ground floors, garages, underground parking garages, warehouses, as well as windowless rooms between load-bearing walls may now be used as shelters.
The space standard is at least 0.6 square meters per person, and in schools and kindergartens, 1 square meter. The room height must be no lower than 1.7 meters, and the gathering radius for the population taking shelter must not exceed 1 kilometer.
Shelters must also be equipped with seating, primary firefighting equipment, water supply systems, and electric lighting.
In the entrances of apartment buildings, instructions on what to do when the “ATTENTION EVERYONE!” signal is given must be posted, and signs pointing to the nearest shelters must be placed on building facades.
