"There is no turning point in the war yet." A military expert on what is happening on the battlefield in Ukraine

"Russia is stumbling on the battlefield." That is the headline of an article published by The Economist, which writes that the spring offensive has not begun, Moscow has been losing territory seized in Ukraine for the second month in a row, and for the first time in three years the Ukrainian Armed Forces have seized the initiative at the front.

The publication quotes military expert Sir Lawrence Freedman, emeritus professor at King's College London: "It gives the impression that this is a turning point in the war," he says. "If the Russians' efforts continue to produce no results, I would not be surprised if in some areas the situation starts to collapse for them."

TV Rain asked Conflict Intelligence Team founder Ruslan Leviev whether he sees the turning point in the war that The Economist is writing about.

"No," the military expert replied.

He called the statements "absolutely unserious, especially for a professor":

That is, yes, there are problems for Russia, for the Russian army, more Ukrainian strikes are being carried out, there are serious losses, the offensive has slowed down, but we do not see any kind of turning point here.

We also asked the expert how much time Russia might need to take all of Donbas by military means?

It is quite difficult to imagine specific years. But the Russian army needs at least two years, maybe even more, to capture the entire remainder of Donetsk region.
