Former Zelensky spokesperson says he was ready to hand over Donbas in 2022. The presidential office replied that “she is not in her right mind”
Yulia Mendel, the former spokesperson for the president of Ukraine (she held the post in 2019-2021), gave an interview to American conservative journalist Tucker Carlson in which, among other things, she said that the Ukrainian delegation at the talks in Istanbul in the spring of 2022 was allegedly ready to agree to all of Russia’s demands in order to stop the war.
She provided no evidence, relying solely on conversations with unnamed people who allegedly directly represented Ukraine in Istanbul:
I spoke with people who represented Ukraine at the talks in Istanbul in 2022. And they explained to me in detail that they agreed to everything. Moreover, very importantly, they said that Zelensky personally agreed to give up Donbas.
The Presidential Office categorically rejected her words. They emphasized that Mendel had no access whatsoever to state decision-making and was not involved in the negotiation process:
This lady did not take part in the negotiations, did not take part in decision-making, has long not been in her right mind, and commenting on who tells her what there and whether it really happened is not serious.
In the interview, Mendel also accused Zelensky of using drugs, but again provided no evidence:
Personally, I never saw him use drugs, but it is an open secret.
🔵Earlier, in one of her interviews, Mendel said that former head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak practices magic, including trips to cemeteries and “dead water.”
