The Kaluga Region Health Ministry has started calling abortion a “negative choice during pregnancy.”
The regional ministry’s press service explained that this wording is “more elegant” and “better captures the essence of abortion.”
“In her report, the minister spoke, among other things, about how we help women change their decision and choose childbearing. In a situation where she is leaning toward a negative choice (abortion), which carries such consequences for a woman’s health, including psychological health, the word ‘abortion’ does not fully convey this,” they told Podyom
When Plain Words Become Inconvenient
The ministry replaced abortion with a negative choice during pregnancy.
So the problem now yields to wording.
