Rospotrebnadzor refused to disclose data on the content of harmful substances in the water and sand of Anapa after the 2024 oil spill.

This is stated in the agency’s response to a request from municipal deputy Oleg Yantsen, which environmentalist Yevgeny Vitishko published.

The document says that by decision of the government commission, information on eliminating the consequences of the accident cannot be passed on to the media and bloggers, and Rospotrebnadzor’s research results may be sent only to the commission.

In December 2024, two Volgoneft tankers sank in the Kerch Strait, after which 2,400 tons of oil products entered the Black Sea. Despite statements by local authorities that the cleanup had been completed, Russia’s environmental watchdog noted that it is impossible to remove the fuel oil completely.
