Searches carried out at Eksmo. Publishing house head Yevgeny Kapyev detained

Searches were carried out in Moscow at the homes of executives of the Eksmo publishing holding. According to REN TV, security forces came as part of a criminal case over organizing the activities of an extremist organization. It may be connected to the “distribution of LGBT literature among minors.”

Eksmo CEO Yevgeny Kapyev and several other employees of the publishing house were detained. Mash writes that editor-in-chief Alexandra Shipetina is also among those detained.

The searches are connected to the “publishers’ case”: in May 2025, security forces carried out mass searches of employees of Eksmo, Popcorn Books, and Individuum in an extremism case over the distribution of the books “Summer in a Pioneer Tie” and “What the Swallow Is Silent About.”
