Latvian authorities intend to completely ban bus transportation to Russia and Belarus
Delfi reports that Latvia's Ministry of Transport has drafted amendments that would ban regular bus routes, including those traveling in transit through the country's territory.
A ban on irregular transportation was introduced on November 1, 2025.
"The existence of regular routes to Russia and Belarus, along with other travel options, increases the risk for Latvian citizens of encountering situations of influence and recruitment," the ministry said.
It noted that after the amendments are approved, the state Road Transport Administration will issue individual administrative acts canceling carriers' permits on the basis of the Administrative Procedure Law.
