Former URA RU editor Denis Allayarov was sentenced to 5 years in a penal colony in a case over a bribe to his police officer uncle.
He was also fined 1.2 million rubles and banned from practicing journalism for four years after his release, TASS reports from the courtroom of the Verkh-Isetsky District Court in Yekaterinburg.
According to investigators, Allayarov paid 120,000 rubles for several operational briefings to his own uncle, Andrei Karpov, who was then the head of the criminal investigation department.
When Karpov was detained for taking a bribe and abuse of office, he gave up his nephew and got off with a suspended sentence.
