Novaya Europe: more than 1,400 civilians have been killed in Russia and Crimea during the full-scale war in Ukraine


In 2026, the number of civilians killed in Russia and Crimea has nearly doubled. In 2025, an average of 25 people a month were killed by military action; in 2026, over the first four months of the year, the average number of deaths was 41 people.


The geography of attacks causing casualties has also expanded. At the end of last year, civilian deaths had been recorded in 20 regions; now there are victims in 27 federal subjects.


The most common scenario of death for civilians is a drone hitting a residential building. The overall number of UAV attacks has increased, which in total has led to significant casualties.
