St. Petersburg scholar detained over a donation to the FBK\
In St. Petersburg, 58-year-old Candidate of Philosophical Sciences and associate professor at the European University (EUSPb) Igor Zaitsev was detained on suspicion of financing the Anti-Corruption Foundation\.
According to the security forces, the St. Petersburg resident transferred 3,500 rubles to the organization's accounts. As part of the investigation, additional operational-search measures and investigative actions are being carried out, the police statement says. Local police published a vid of the search of his home. It shows an email according to which, in September 2021, Zaitsev became a sponsor of the YouTube channel "Navalny LIVE."
EUSPb itself said that associate professor Igor Zaitsev does not work at the European University at St. Petersburg: he was engaged as an external part-time lecturer from 2024 through June 2026. A criminal case has been opened against the lecturer under the article on financing extremist activity.
