👀Also sudden. Hungary summoned the Russian ambassador over today's strikes on Zakarpattia. The new foreign minister Anita Orban (not related to Viktor, just the same surname) will condemn the attack and ask the Russian ambassador when they are going to end their four-year war (the ambassador is summoned for tomorrow morning, updated).

Volodymyr Zelensky supported the Hungarian Foreign Ministry's decision and thanked Peter Magyar's new government for not being indifferent and for its strong position.

Well, this matters, what else is there to say.

The point is that former Prime Minister Viktor Orban styled himself as a kind of defender of ethnic Hungarians, but for all four years he kept silent about Russian strikes, including on Zakarpattia. Meaning he did not give a damn about Hungarians when Russia was striking them. But here Peter Magyar's new government is already stating its position on the fifth day of its term. There is more to come.

As a result of today's Russian strike on western Ukraine, 3 people were killed in Rivne Oblast.

Over the past 24 hours Russia launched 892 drones (updated) and several Kinzhal missiles. Right now the attack is still ongoing, with several dozen drones in the sky. Strikes are expected from strategic aviation, ground-based tactical ballistic missile systems, and sea-launched cruise missiles.

The Defender Spoke After Leaving Office

Hungary summoned the ambassador after strikes on Zakarpattia.

Defending Hungarians apparently started without Viktor Orban.
