In a statement published on his personal website, Anatoly Chubais writes that over the past year and a half, his Rosnano employees have been "hit by a barrage of criminal and civil proceedings."

"The initiators of all these decisions are Rosnano's new managers, who in more than 5 years of work have not built a single factory and have not brought any nanotechnologies to the country. They have turned Rosnano into a raider outfit that is destroying not only technology, but also the lives and destinies of the people who built more than 100 nanotechnology enterprises in Russia, most of which are still operating successfully," the statement says.

According to Chubais, he cannot protect his former colleagues, but he can "state firmly that all these accusations are a mockery of the law, and not one of the accused did anything illegal."

The investigators' claims against Rosnano are tied to losses in the implementation of the Plastic Logic project, a flexible tablet for schoolchildren. Chubais headed Rosnano from 2008. He resigned in December 2020, and in March 2022 he left Russia. After Chubais's departure, Vladimir Putin said that in "the nanotechnology structure that he headed for many years," an "enormous financial hole" had been discovered.
