Aleksei Venediktov, the former editor-in-chief of Echo of Moscow and a journalist, was fined for cooperating with an “undesirable” organization, the project Slovo zashchite reported.


He was accused of cooperating with the Echo project, which was launched in Germany after Echo of Moscow was liquidated in Russia. Russia’s Prosecutor General’s Office designated this organization “undesirable” in 2025.


Venediktov himself said that he disagrees with the court’s decision: “I consider this decision unfounded and unjust. I will appeal.”
