Chubais spoke out in support of former colleagues at Rosnano who are accused of causing billion-ruble losses. He called their prosecution reprisals initiated by the new management

In a statement published on his personal website, Anatoly Chubais writes that over the past year and a half, his Rosnano employees have faced “a barrage of criminal and civil proceedings.”

“The initiators of all these decisions are Rosnano’s new managers, who in more than 5 years of work have still not built a single plant and have not brought any nanotechnology to the country. They have turned Rosnano into a raider outfit that is destroying not only technology, but also the lives and destinies of the people who built more than 100 nanotechnology enterprises in Russia, most of which are still operating successfully. Unfortunately, I can neither stop these reprisals nor protect the colleagues and comrades who have fallen under them. I do not know what criminal cases are currently being prepared next, whose homes will be searched, who will be arrested. I can only state firmly that all these accusations are a mockery of the law, and not one of the accused did anything unlawful,” the statement by Chubais published on his website says.

Investigators’ claims against Rosnano are tied to losses in the implementation of the Plastic Logic project, a flexible tablet for schoolchildren. Chubais headed Rosnano from 2008. He resigned in December 2020, and left Russia in March 2022.
