A Russian man detained in Poland on suspicion of preparing the murder of a citizen of the United States and Ukraine

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the suspect was actually detained back on August 7. Polish and U.S. special services took part in the operation.

The suspect, Tusk says, was recruited by Russian special services. According to the prime minister, the detainee was planning an attempt on the life of a citizen holding passports of two countries, Ukraine and the United States.

'This man holds two passports. He was inconvenient for Vladimir Putin's regime. Thanks to a brilliantly conducted operation, this murder was prevented,' Tusk said. The names of the detainee and his potential victim have not been disclosed.

According to information from RMF FM radio sources, the target of the planned attack was a 'defense industry entrepreneur' who supplied his company's products to Ukraine. The suspect, the outlet's sources claim, is a 29-year-old native of Donbas.

The Polish prime minister noted that 'this is the first case where someone from Russia decides to attack a U.S. citizen on the territory of another NATO country.'
