Two young St. Petersburg residents sentenced to 15 and 16 years in prison colony in case over attempted poisoning of food for Espanyola fighters and DPR residents

The verdict in the case on participation in a terrorist organization, attempted terrorist attack, and treason against 22-year-old Nikita Krasilnikov and 20-year-old Rinat Ilyin was handed down by Judge Aleksandr Khludnev of the 1st Western District Military Court, Mediazona reports.

They will spend the first four years in prison, after which they will be transferred to a maximum-security penal colony.

According to the prosecution, in 2024 their acquaintance Artyom Shcherbakov persuaded Ilyin and Krasilnikov to carry out assignments for the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK), including mixing toxic substances into products intended for Espanyola and residents of the "DPR."

Shcherbakov was detained together with the young men in February 2024. He admitted guilt and testified against his acquaintances. He was sentenced to 15 years in a penal colony.

Ilyin and Krasilnikov admitted the factual part of the charges and repented for what they had done. Krasilnikov also spoke about torture by the FSB during his detention.
