Oil supplies to Hungary and Slovakia via the Druzhba pipeline are resuming. This was a condition for Kyiv to receive a 90 billion euro loan

“According to information from Ukrtransnafta (the Ukrainian operator of the pipeline section — Meduza’s note), this morning pressure began to be increased and the Druzhba oil pipeline began to be filled on the Ukrainian side. Pumping and supplies to Slovakia are expected to resume on the morning of April 23,” Slovak Energy Minister Denisa Sakova wrote.

The Hungarian company MOL also received a signal from Ukrtransnafta that oil pumping was resuming. According to its information, the flow of crude oil from Belarus through the Druzhba pipeline began on the Ukrainian section today at 12:00.

The day before, Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine, in accordance with agreements with the European Union, had repaired the damaged section of the Druzhba oil pipeline. Supplies of Russian oil to Hungary and Slovakia were halted at the end of January. Ukraine is now waiting for the European loan of 90 billion euros to be unblocked.
