“Open your windows all week, make noise, bang on pots.” Politician Yekaterina Duntsova proposed staging a “home protest” for a free internet

As Duntsova stated, the authorities have recently been banning virtually any form of street protest, so she wants to express disagreement without bringing people out onto the streets:

Open windows all week at 8 p.m. and make noise for a free internet — honk, whistle, bang on pots, play music, in any safe way and within the permitted noise level.

Duntsova noted that formally such a protest is not banned, but “we all understand how flexibly the law is interpreted today.”

In connection with this, Duntsova said, she sent appeals to Vladimir Putin, other Russian politicians, and the heads of security agencies asking them to answer whether such a protest is legal.

She called on anyone who wants to also address representatives of the authorities with this question.
