Political prisoner Anna Aleksandrova is not being allowed to write poetry. Twelve notebooks of her poems were taken away

Anna Aleksandrova is a hairdresser from St. Petersburg. She is serving a sentence in a case over military "fakes." Anna loves writing poetry and gladly shares it with her pen pals.

But recently Anna told one of the people she corresponds with that colony staff had forbidden her from sending out her works in letters. They also took away 12 notebooks filled with poetry.

Anna Aleksandrova's case

In November 2023, after being informed on by a neighbor, Anna was sent to a pretrial detention center in a case over military "fakes."

The woman said that the investigator in her case pressured her, going as far as encouraging her to commit suicide. As a result, Anna once tried to slit her veins. In the pretrial detention center, her chronic illnesses worsened, but she was not given the medical care she needed.

Before her arrest, Anna lived in the Leningrad region with her son, worked as a hairdresser, and was passionate about gardening: she grew saplings and berries and kept bees.
