Detained over a doll and a fine overturned (yes, that happens too). Here are the latest freedom of assembly news

➡️ In Voronezh, National Bolshevik Nikita Korniyets was detained because of a doll. Security forces came to his home and took him to the police station. They said the persecution was connected to an action in which unknown people hung a mannequin from a tree with a placard reading: “I was hanged because I didn’t download the Max messenger.” Later, Korniyets was arrested for seven days, but on different grounds: because of a photograph of a comrade killed in the war with a Slavic symbol.

➡️ A National Bolshevik in Perm was hit with carousel arrests. National Bolsheviks Anton Belyaev and Yevgeny Korotkov came out on May 1 with a placard saying “Peace\ (but blocked), Labor\ (but not for officials), May\ (but with a black sky).” They were detained and given 12 and 13 days. When their terms expired, they were not released but immediately handed new protocols for “displaying extremist symbols” of an unregistered party. Korotkov was given another seven days; Belyaev’s hearing has not yet taken place.

➡️ Good news: a court overturned a fine imposed on an 80-year-old activist from Perm. Earlier, Viktor Gilin was detained at a protest against the blocking of Telegram and accused of “disobeying the police.” The grounds for the prosecution were denunciations by members of the Young Guard of United Russia. A second case was also opened against the activist at the time, for violating the procedure for holding a rally. The court rejected the appeal in that case. Now the defense intends to go to the cassation court.
