"Everyone smelled our 3%." The Rodina party hopes to get state funding after Yabloko was removed from the election

The Rodina party’s main interest in the State Duma election after Yabloko was removed is to clear the 3% vote threshold and thus receive hundreds of millions of rubles in state funding, sources in Rodina told Verstka.

Representatives of this party filed a lawsuit with the Supreme Court to remove Yabloko, and the appeal on it is being considered today. According to Verstka’s sources, the granting of this lawsuit in the first instance has already drawn “the attention of old comrades.”

“They call, they write, they invite us to meet, even though just yesterday they weren’t answering messages. Suddenly everyone has some ideas and a huge interest in our party life,” one source describes the situation.

“Everyone smelled our 3%,” one of the sources explained to Verstka about the surge of attention to Rodina’s campaign. The party does not speak about this publicly, but in private conversations they do not hide that Rodina’s real goal in the Duma campaign is not to get into parliament (that is, to win 5% of voters’ ballots), but to obtain state funding.

Under the law, all parties that win more than 3% of the vote in the Duma election receive 152 rubles a year for every vote cast for them over the next five years, until the next election. At 3%, this could amount to approximately 250 million rubles a year.

“Our office is modest right now, and the coffee machine kind of sucks. There’ll be something to upgrade it with,” one of the most optimistic party members is already dreaming in a conversation with Verstka.
