A month ago, 14-year-old Lera Bokova disappeared in Tuapse. Her family’s home burned down after a drone strike, but the girl’s body was never found

On the night of April 16, Tuapse was attacked by Ukrainian drones. One of the drones hit the home of Tatyana and Andrei Bokov on Sochinskaya Street, landing directly in the room of their younger daughter, 14-year-old Valeria Bokova.

After the explosion and fire, nothing but ruins remained of the house. The authorities immediately said that Lera had died. Rescuers spent three days clearing the rubble of the Bokovs’ home, but they never found the girl’s body.

Lera’s mother suggested that her daughter might still have survived and, in a state of shock, run off into the forest. Employees of the Ratiborets Foundation searched for the girl for more than three weeks. They claimed they had seen Lera’s tracks, and then the girl herself — she allegedly pushed one of the volunteers away and ran into the forest. In the end, none of these reports were confirmed.
