The European Council has completed approval of a €90 billion loan for Ukraine and approved the 20th package of sanctions against Russia.

“Today the Council adopted the final key legislative act defining the terms of the EU’s €90 billion loan to Ukraine, agreed by the European Council in December 2025. This step will allow the Commission to begin payments as soon as possible, in the second quarter of 2026,” the statement on the Council’s website says.
