The number of workers in Russia facing dismissal has risen by 43% in ten months — Vedomosti

By April, the number of workers “recommended for dismissal” had reached more than 105,000, the newspaper Vedomosti writes, citing data from Rostrud.

For comparison, in June 2025, 73,572 workers were facing dismissal; over ten months, that number grew by 43%.

According to Rostrud, the largest number of dismissals is expected in Moscow, the Omsk and Irkutsk regions, Krasnoyarsk Krai, and the Moscow Region. It is reported that this primarily concerns workers in financial management and taxation, hospitals, and “state administration and local self-government bodies dealing with general and socio-economic issues.”

Experts surveyed by the publication say that dismissals in the public sector may be linked to a shortage of money caused by deficits in the federal and regional budgets. In the non-budgetary sector, the cuts are linked to slowing economic growth and consumer demand.
