In June 2025, Burakov filed a report requesting a transfer out of the 95th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 5th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade (military unit 41698), because the regiment commander Dmitry “Starina” Ivankevich was stealing money and “zeroing out” unwanted soldiers and officers. Ivankevich refused to accept the report and, together with another “rebellious” battalion commander, put the officers “in the basement,” and later “zeroed them out,” recording them as having fled into SOCh.

But we missed the whole point of Russia’s bandit-state. This is something on the level of banana republics or the early L/DPR. It turns out that the “zeroer” Dmitry Ivankevich was also “zeroed out”! These are the rules nowadays in the Guards units of the Russian Armed Forces.

Despite the fact that several months after the “zeroing out” Ivankevich turned himself in and said where Burakov’s body was buried, he was not arrested and no criminal case was opened. Big deal, he shot his subordinate. Butcher commanders are the most valuable resource on which Russia’s entire military doctrine of “meat assaults” is built. So neither any DKVR, nor the Investigative Committee, nor the prosecutor’s office posed any threat to Ivankevich. But because the media effect from Burakov’s execution was fairly large, Ivankevich was dealt with not according to the law, but the Russian way — he too was “zeroed out.”

As Pyotr Lundstrem cheerfully reported, in the fall of 2025 Ivankevich was executed with shots to the back of the head by an unknown person somewhere in the rear. His accomplices are alive and continue serving in the Russian Armed Forces.

If what is really happening in the Russian army were turned into a film, viewers would spit in disgust and say it was already too much, some kind of fantasy. But no, the reality of the “Russian world” is far worse than anything a horror or dystopian film director could come up with.
