Shoigu's daughter wrote a textbook, in which she warned students about the dangers of Apple and Google. They allegedly track users, see bank accounts, and read SMS messages

These claims were found by "MO" in a 2026 life safety textbook for college students prepared under the editorship of Yulia Shoigu, the elder daughter of the Security Council secretary and former Russian defense minister.

◾️"A person leaves digital traces," the textbook author warns about the danger. But as an example she cites not the national messenger MAX (which has been called “a spy in your pocket”), but Google and Apple. The textbook claims that these companies and their business partners track "all users' personal data (personal, banking)." In reality, the fact that apps can access certain user data does not mean that Apple and Google automatically receive personal and banking data. For example, when using Apple Pay, the real card number is not stored by Apple and is not transmitted to it to process payments.

◾️Google and Apple allegedly read SMS messages. The textbook claims that tech companies receive "all personal data" of the user, including SMS correspondence. In reality, ordinary SMS is a mobile carrier service, not Apple or Google (Apple explicitly states that SMS/MMS is provided by the carrier). On Android, app access to SMS is classified as a high-risk permission and is strictly limited by Google Play rules.

◾️The microphone and camera allegedly work constantly. The textbook says that on a smartphone "the microphone works in passive mode," and that recording from the built-in camera is "not uncommon." In reality, app access to the microphone and camera requires user permission and is controlled by the operating system: when they are in use, iPhone and Android show special indicators.

◾️You turned the phone off, but it still determines location through cell towers and Wi-Fi, Shoigu's daughter teaches students. iPhone and Android can indeed be detectable for some time after being turned off, but only through special device-finding networks, such as Apple's Find My. This does not mean that a turned-off phone continues ordinary geolocation and constantly transmits its coordinates.

◾️Shoigu and her company of “experts” also lied about cryptocurrency. The textbook claims that it is “digital pseudo-money,” and that its exchange rate supposedly depends exclusively on rumors and manipulation in the information space.

👱‍♀️Since 2002, Yulia Shoigu has headed the Russian Emergencies Ministry's Center for Emergency Psychological Aid (which until 2012 was run by her father). As MO found out , in 2021 Shoigu became the owner of two apartments in central Moscow with a total area of 210 m² and a value of about 200 million rubles. Yulia received both apartments for free.
