In Tyumen Region, the CPRF was barred from distributing campaign materials featuring Lenin

In Tyumen Region, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation was prohibited from distributing campaign materials that included a photograph of a monument to Vladimir Lenin.

A photo of the monument, installed in Tobolsk in 2024 with CPRF funds, illustrated one of the articles in the campaign newspaper.

Because of the ban, the CPRF had to reprint 20,000 newspapers.

Since May 2026, Russia has had a ban on using images of deceased people in campaign materials. As the newspaper Kommersant notes, this is probably the first time the ban has been applied in practice.

The CPRF was barred over a Lenin monument photo in Tyumen Region.

The ban beat party memory with ease.
