Authorities Begin Canceling State Contracts for Children’s Holidays in Tuapse Due to the State of Emergency

Authorities have begun canceling state contracts for children’s holidays in Tuapse because of the state of emergency. Local officials had earlier promised to prepare the resort for the season by June 1

The Department of Social Development of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug canceled three state contracts for children’s holidays in the Tuapse district; Verstka found the relevant information on the public procurement website.

Three contracts previously signed with Sevil LLC for the “organization of children’s recreation and health improvement” in the Tuapse district were terminated. The procurements were canceled “by agreement of the parties” because of the state of emergency introduced in April after a series of Ukrainian attacks on the Tuapse oil refinery and an oil products spill into the Black Sea. The total value of the canceled contracts is 150 million rubles.

Earlier, the authorities of the Murmansk region and North Ossetia reported their decision not to send children to Tuapse. Officials in KhMAO did not publicly announce the cancellation of holidays in Krasnodar Krai.

The authorities in Tuapse had assured people that the coastline would be fully cleaned and ready for the start of the season on June 1. They claimed that all oil products that had ended up in the sea and on the beaches since mid-April would be removed.

Other regions and large companies have so far not refused budget-funded trips to Tuapse. For example, the authorities of Norilsk are planning to send children there for “recreation and health improvement” — the corresponding 15 million ruble state contract was signed on April 17. And officials in the Lipetsk region and St. Petersburg decided to send several judges to the Tuapse coast, both sitting and retired.
