While the internet is once again arguing about FBK, the security forces keep persecuting the fund’s donors. How can you assess your risks? Instructions from OVD-Info
In Russia, at least 219 people are being persecuted over donations to FBK, according to our data as of May 20, 2026. Criminal cases continue to be opened against donors for transfers made after August 4, 2021, the date when the ruling recognizing the organization as "extremist" came into force.
The most vulnerable group is those who donated to FBK from Russian bank cards after that date: it is easiest for the security forces to obtain information about such transfers, and there is no way to hide it. But the risk of persecution is not zero even for those who donated to the fund from foreign bank cards or in cryptocurrency. This does not mean a case will definitely be opened, but it is still worth taking precautions.
In our new guide, we explain how to check the date of a transfer (and whether it happened at all, if you do not remember) and how to protect yourself.
