The mother of presidential administration chief Anton Vaino received half a billion rubles by lending to the defense enterprise Sfera — Important Stories

Seventy-four-year-old Tatyana Yezhevskaya, the mother of Russian presidential administration chief Anton Vaino, received more than half a billion rubles in 2023 from the Russian defense companies group Sfera, according to an investigation by Important Stories.

In March 2022, soon after the start of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, Yezhevskaya became a creditor of Sfera for 450 million rubles, the journalists found. In 2023, she received repayment of the debt with interest — 525 million rubles in total.

Important Stories previously reported that 89-year-old Tamara Manturova, the mother of Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, received money under the same scheme. In 2022, she lent Sfera 1.3 billion rubles and over four years received 3.28 billion in the form of debt repayment with interest.

A source for Important Stories, one of the former members of Russia’s Forbes list, suggested that the large loans may have existed entirely or partly only on paper:

The Sfera group of companies became known after it bought up Russian enterprises that produce components and avionics for helicopters and aircraft. The firm’s current reporting contains no data on assets. According to Important Stories, the company is still issuing loans to defense enterprises.

Tatyana Yezhevskaya and Tamara Manturova jointly owned Kompleks-Stroymaterialy-Ovrazhki, one of the key companies in the Trassa group, a large network of gas stations in Russia.
