42 days in a pit for refusing to fight.
Alex Khamitov, together with other “volunteers,” signed a contract with the Russian Defense Ministry in order to avoid serving a sentence in a penal colony. Subsequently, of the 23 men who signed the contract, only a few remained alive.
On May 20, 2024, Alex was wounded, after which he spent about three months in a hospital. He did not want to return to the war. Alex was afraid that he would be sent on an assault again or simply “thrown in to get blown up.” That is why he hid from service.
In April 2026, he was detained by military police, beaten, and sent to the front line near Serhiivka in Donetsk Oblast. There, Khamitov was thrown into a “pit” for a long 42 days as punishment. And then he was sent on a “meat” assault.
