Lukoil refinery near Nizhny Novgorod attacked again
On the morning of May 20, residents of Kstovo reported explosions and a fire in the area of the Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez oil refinery.
Local authorities switched schoolchildren to remote learning and advised parents not to take their children to kindergartens.
According to ASTRA’s OSINT analysis, the strike hit the ELOU-AVT unit, a key element of primary oil refining. That is where crude oil is separated into gasoline, diesel, kerosene, and other products.
This is not the first attack on the plant: the facility had previously been struck in April.
▶️The refinery in Kstovo is one of the largest in Russia. Its capacity is about 17 million tons of oil per year, and its products are supplied, among other places, to the Moscow region.
