In Moscow, lawyer Igor Popovsky, who defended defendants in the Bolotnaya case, was detained in a fraud case
The detention is being reported by the Telegram channels close to the security forces, Baza and 112, as well as the Investigative Committee (which does not name the detainee).
According to the Investigative Committee, in June 2022 the lawyer entered into an agreement with a Moscow resident who had been accused of fraud, and in April 2025 convinced her that for monetary compensation he could end the criminal prosecution by exerting "influence over officials in the prosecutor's office and the judicial system." The Investigative Committee claims that Popovsky received six million rubles from the Muscovite, but did not have a "real ability" to influence the court's decision.
The Telegram channel 112 claims that Popovsky admitted guilt.
Mediazona recalls that Igor Popovsky defended anarchist Ruslan Sidiki in the case over the railway bombing and drone attacks on the Dyagilevo airfield, Oleg Arkhipenkov and other defendants in the case over the mass riots on Bolotnaya Square, nationalist Alexander Potkin (Belov), and BORN participant Yury Tikhomirov.
