Meduza: State media were told to ‘write less about bans.’ This is how the authorities are trying to stop United Russia’s ratings from falling

The presidential administration ordered the media to exclude the word “ban” from news headlines and from the text of publications. According to Meduza’s sources, the instruction came amid a drop in the ratings of the United Russia party.

State media were asked to “write less about these topics — bans, restrictions, and fines.” “There is an exception, [you can write], when a ban is being lifted,” said a journalist, a Meduza source.
