On May 20, two badly generated AI videos appeared in the Telegram channels of the Government of Rostov Region and the Administration of Oktyabrsky District.

The first shows people complaining about internet shutdowns. They cannot pay for orders, call a taxi, and get lost in the city. “But we do not stop to think that the internet can be dangerous,” a voice-over says against the backdrop of an explosion that destroyed an entire house. After that, the gloomy setting changes to a sunny one, and a cheerful voice says that “the internet is being shut down for your safety.”

In the second video, we see a puppeteer controlling a march that ends in “tragedy” — mmm, a classic. “We can change the world without going out into the streets,” the video says at the end.

🔷 On the day the videos were published, Rostov Region set up a commission on digital development and the implementation of artificial intelligence technologies — now that’s what we call a hard-charging first day on the job!
