Artist Alexander Arsenyev sentenced to one year and eight months in prison for the graffiti “I Don’t Want to Get Used to War,” but released in the courtroom
The decision by St. Petersburg’s Petrogradsky District Court in the vandalism and repeat “discrediting” of the army cases was reported by human rights defender Alexey Pryanishnikov, citing lawyer Anri Tsiskarishvili.
Arsenyev was released in the courtroom with credit for the time he had spent in custody.
Investigators believe he made two graffiti pieces with the words “I Don’t Want to Get Used to War” on fences near Gazprom Arena and on Konyushennaya Square in February 2025.
Arsenyev was detained in Moscow, then taken to St. Petersburg and placed in a pretrial detention center.
