A Russian woman living in Ukraine came to Moscow to renew her passport. She spent four months under revolving-door arrests, and then a treason case was opened against her

The woman is now being held in a pretrial detention center.

As «Mediazona» writes, a criminal treason case has been opened in Moscow against Russian citizen Svetlana Golovatenko. The woman had lived in Ukraine for a long time, but returned to Russia to renew her internal passport and re-register housing in Donetsk, where she still had an apartment.

She arrived in Russia on April 23 on a flight via Georgia. She was detained in the arrivals area at Moscow’s Vnukovo airport, and the next day she was jailed for 15 days under the article on petty hooliganism. After that, seven more reports were filed against her under the same article, and the woman was repeatedly re-arrested.

Golovatenko received her last 15-day arrest on August 4. After that, a criminal treason case was apparently opened against her. «Mediazona» learned that Moscow’s Meshchansky District Court placed Golovatenko in pretrial detention on that charge. What prompted the prosecution is unknown.

🔵Svetlana Golovatenko was born in Arkhangelsk Oblast. She had lived in Kyiv for more than ten years and worked there as a manicurist and pedicurist. She had a residence permit in Ukraine. The woman’s parents and younger brother live in Russia.
