✹ Security forces came to the scientists’ homes, and then to the institute itself, on May 19. Ten employees were taken to the Investigative Committee and questioned until the evening.
✹ According to T-Invariant, officers from Center “E,” which deals with combating extremism, took part in the investigative actions.
✹ On May 21, a court imposed a pretrial restriction on one of the institute’s employees, Svetlana Mesyats. She was charged under a fraud statute. Presumably, she was placed under house arrest.
✹ According to Telegram channels and media reports, the case is connected to money allocated for translating Aristotle, and the denunciation against the institute was written by its former director and employee Anatoly Chernyaev.
✹ In 2021, Chernyaev briefly headed the institute until scholars demanded his removal. Two years later, the former director was fired from the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
✹ Chernyaev was linked to “Orthodox oligarch” Konstantin Malofeyev. The businessman’s TV channel Tsargrad publicly attacked the institute and its leadership.
