In recent months, campaigning and coercion into contract service have intensified in Russia. A new and dangerous trend has also emerged: men are being detained on the streets and forced to sign a contract.

Recruitment at workplaces accompanied by threats of dismissal has become more frequent. All the “classic” schemes are still in use as well: pressure on reservists and conscripts at military enlistment offices, military units, and even on the way there, as well as campaigning and deception at universities and colleges.
