Lawyer Igor Popovsky, who handles political cases, was placed under house arrest for a month on fraud charges

The decision by Moscow's Solntsevsky District Court was reported by Mediazona.

Popovsky will serve it at his mother's home.

At the hearing, it was said that the fraud case against the lawyer was opened in late April, and Popovsky was detained on the morning of May 21. He admitted guilt.

According to the Investigative Committee's version, Popovsky offered his client, who is also accused of fraud, to help get the criminal case dropped in exchange for money.

As the judge read out the case materials, he listed the surnames of witnesses: Moskvina, Strizhenov, and Korniyenko; he also mentioned a face-to-face confrontation between Moskvina and Popovsky.

As Mediazona notes, this likely refers to Lyudmila Moskvina, whose lawyer was Popovsky. In May 2025, she was sentenced to five years in prison, with the sentence deferred until 2038, when her child turns 14.

🔵Popovsky is known for defending defendants in the Bolotnaya case. He was also the lawyer for nationalist Alexander Potkin (Belov) and neo-Nazi Nikolai (Nikola) Korolyov.
