Russia Bans the Sale of Wine and Cognac From Three Armenian Companies

Rospotrebnadzor has suspended the sale in Russia of alcoholic products from three companies from Armenia. The ban covers wines and cognacs produced by CJSC Vedi-Alco, LLC Abovyan Brandy Factory, and LLC Wine-Brandy House "Shakhnazaryan."

Among them are the semi-sweet red wine "Getap Vernashen," the dry white wine "Vedi Alco," "Armenian Cognac 5 Stars," and the cognac "Shakhnazaryan XO."

The agency claims that the products of these companies do not meet the "mandatory requirements."

Earlier, the Russian authorities imposed restrictions on the import of flowers and Jermuk mineral water from Armenia.

For many years, Russia has regularly imposed bans on the import of various products from countries with which its relations have deteriorated. Moscow's disagreements with Yerevan arose over what the Russian authorities see as the pro-Western course of Nikol Pashinyan's government.
