The Insider: a company linked to the Rotenbergs was handed a contract without a tender to build a gas pipeline in Crimea worth 739 million rubles

The head of annexed Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, designated JSC GK EKS as the sole contractor for building a gas pipeline to the Zolotye Peski Rossii resort without a tender. The cost of the work is almost 739 million rubles.

The Zolotye Peski Rossii resort is being built by Monolit Group, directly linked to Aksyonov’s family. JSC GK EKS, in turn, has been linked to law enforcement officials and the Rotenberg brothers.

Zolotye Peski Rossii is one of the largest tourism projects in Crimea. It will occupy nearly 230 hectares of coastline between Saky and Yevpatoria. They plan to build 18 hotels, a yacht marina, a water park, and an expo center.

The cost of Zolotye Peski is estimated at almost 120 billion rubles. Its construction is moving forward despite the war and Crimea’s economic blockade.
