A monument to Stalin was ceremonially unveiled in Cherepovets. At the ceremony, the governor proposed naming one of the city’s streets after the general secretary
Today in Cherepovets, on Metallurgov Street, a ceremonial unveiling of a monument to Joseph Stalin and Academician Ivan Bardin took place, local outlet Meridian 35 writes.
The memorial is dedicated to their role in the creation of the Cherepovets Metallurgical Plant, and the opening was timed to coincide with Metallurgist Day.
The event was attended by Vologda Oblast Governor Georgy Filimonov and the leader of the Night Wolves motorcycle club, Alexander "Khirurg" Zaldostanov. Speaking to city residents, Filimonov said that he had "just heard the phrase: we need to make a Stalin Street," and reacted to it:
We need to name one of the streets in the region, in Cherepovets for example, Stalin Street. I heard you! Let’s work on this issue. We’ll get to it, the instruction has been received!
the governor said and added: "it’s up to the people to decide, let’s vote."
