As 7x7 writes, on July 3 a picket in support of education in the native language was held in Ufa, with five people taking part. Those gathered held placards criticizing the Bashkortostan education minister and supporting education in the native language:
"Let us restore national education in Bashkir schools of the Republic of Bashkortostan";
"In a federal state, education cannot be uniform!"
Gazizova said that officials from the regional Ministry of Education and Science invited the picketers into the ministry building, but they refused and dispersed.
As a result, three days later a court in Ufa sentenced 67-year-old participant in the action and leader of the Bashkir Center for the Promotion of Public Education "Aktamyr," Irek Agishev, to three days of arrest.
He was charged under the article on organizing or holding an unauthorized public event (Part 2, Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code). According to 7x7, the man was likely released in the courtroom, since the arrest term was ordered to be counted from July 4.
Gazizova was fined 10,000 rubles by the same court on July 15 under the article on violating the rules for holding a public event (Part 5, Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code). The woman admitted guilt, but asked not to be given arrest because she cares for her elderly husband.
