Physicist from Shchyolkovo who worked at a Roscosmos institute arrested in a treason case

Meshchansky District Court of Moscow arrested Kravchuk M. O. on charges of treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code), as follows from the case file on the court's website, which RBC drew attention to. No details of the case are provided.

It is known that Kravchuk was placed in custody back in late June, and on June 29 he filed an appeal against that decision — a hearing on it is scheduled for July 29.

Ostorozhno, Novosti writes that this concerns a 35-year-old employee of the Moscow research institute TsNIIMash, which is part of the Roscosmos system. Kravchuk lived in Shchyolkovo outside Moscow and wrote several scientific papers on aerodynamics, and in 2016 he received an apartment from the authorities under a social program for young scientists.

🔵Kravchuk became at least the fourth scientist from this institute to be accused of treason since 2019, the outlet notes. The man was detained on his birthday, June 24.
