At the very beginning of the war, when a Russian fighter jet crashed into a residential building in Yeysk and destroyed an entire section, my first thoughts were: “Horrible, there are people there!” And that was already after Mariupol, and even after that I did not think that all Russians were stupid and aggressive beasts. I still do not think so, thanks to Meduza, intellect, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which are not allowing the front line to move into my city.

But in the fifth year of the war, when missiles and drones fall in my city like in the game Battleship, and every day you wake up thinking, “Thank God it wasn’t me, my loved ones, or my home,” I read news about massive strikes on Russian cities and oil refineries with a feeling of deep moral satisfaction. That is the kind of transformation that happens because of a war with, essentially, good kind people! And the only phrase left in my head is: “Whoever comes to us with a sword…”
