I am against this war and have been against it from the very beginning. It hurts and it is shameful to see how much grief people have caused in the name of your homeland.

But the dehumanization of Russians also worries me and weighs on me. A war of conquest is not a Russian invention. People have been killing each other since the beginning of time. I do not think that people in Russia are “orcs” by nature. Sophisticated propaganda, a hard life, and fear of repression make people conformists.

People can gloat that Russians are now feeling firsthand what war is. Perhaps strikes deep inside Russia will help bring the fighting to an end more quickly, although that is not guaranteed.

But in any case, hatred only breeds more hatred. Most people have no connection to the war; they are in pain and anxious right now.

If we do not care about them when they are suffering, then we will create a vicious cycle of resentment from which nothing good will come, and we ourselves will become what we hate. I think we need to learn again to see one another as human beings. Stay strong.
